Drummer Steve Holley will be guest instructor July 19-21!

Steve Holley, world renowned drummer, currently touring with Ian Hunter’s RANT Band,  will be an instructor at Rock On the week of July 17-21. Steve performed and recorded with Paul McCartney’s Wings from 1978-81.

Steve has had a luminous career which includes working  with Elton John, Kiki Dee, G.T. Moore & The Reggae Guitars, Joe Cocker, Ian Hunter, Julian Lennon, Dar Williams, Ben E. King, and Chuck Berry, Jules Shear’s band Reckless Sleepers.

Steve is also a great admirer of Ringo Starr and talks about Starr’s influence on him in an interview in Modern Drummer along with Smithereens’ Dennis Diken.  Check out the video below where Holley and Diken demonstrate signature rhythms and styles made popular by Ringo throughout his career and discuss his impact on music at the time and today.

Steve Holley will join Rock On’s Jay Fruet in the Berkshires’ latest Beatles tribute band Beatlesque in concert on July 21 at 7pm at the BOLAND Theatre at BCC. Rock On students will have an opportunity to play with the Beatlesque band which includes Mick Valenti on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Bob Balawender on drums and vocals, Andre Leblanc on bass, keyboards, Guitar and vocals, Jim Stankiewicz on keyboards, percussion and vocals, Cliff Ducharme on guitar, bass, percussion and vocals and Jay Fruet on lead guitar and vocals.
