Rock On Summer 2017 – 3 weeks July 10-28


Rock On! will run for 3 weeks this year, July 10-28 at Berkshire Community College. Enroll now for 1, 2 or all 3 weeks!


Activities include playing in bands, songwriting, digital recording and performing. This year’s special guests are drummer Steve Holley who performed and recorded with Paul McCartney and Wings from 1978-81, and playwright Lucy Thurber who will work with students on her new play for Williamstown Theatre Festival’s Community Works project directed by Laura Savia.


Sherri James Buxton will offer OnStage Live!  a workshop for singers and actors. OnStage Live! is a collaboration with the Berkshire Music School to explore vocal technique and styles and to offer guidance on auditioning and performing.


Jeff Link, bassist and BCC faculty member,  will teach an intensive in Recording Technology. This component is offered in cooperation with BCC’s  Music Production Certificate program. Students learn how to produce and compose music using industry standard software. Students do not have to play a traditional instrument to enroll. Cam Burgess will teach Deejay Mixing and Editing.


Guest artist Steve Holley will be an instructor at Rock On the week of July 17-21. Steve performed and recorded with Paul McCartney’s Wings from 1978-81. He also worked with Elton John, Kiki Dee, G.T. Moore & The Reggae Guitars, Joe Cocker, Ian Hunter, Julian Lennon, Dar Williams, Ben E. King, and Chuck Berry, Jules Shear’s band Reckless Sleepers. Steve has been touring with Ian Hunter for several years as a member of Ian Hunter’s Rant band.


Steve Holley and students will join Beatlesque in concert July 21 at 7pm in the BOLAND Theatre.  Beatlesque is the Berkshire’s one and only Beatles tribute band with Mick Valenti on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Bob Balawender on drums and vocals, Andre Leblanc on bass, keyboards, Guitar and vocals, Jim Stankiewicz on keyboards, percussion and vocals, Cliff Ducharme on guitar, bass, percussion and vocals and Rock On’s Jay Fruet on lead guitar and vocals.
