CJ Ramone does Pittsfield – Sunday Night at Chameleons

C.J. RamoneSunday March 24 – C.J. Ramone along with Steve Soto and Dan Root will be performing Live at Chameleons in Pittsfield Massachusetts. For more info go to http://www.facebook.com/events/140397852798083/.   Christopher Joseph Ward a.k.a. C.J. Ramone joined the Ramones in 1989 to replace longtime player Dee Dee Ramone. His first show with The Ramones was on September 30, 1989, in Leicester, England, and he played with the band until they retired on August 6, 1996. Before joining the band, C.J. was a fan of the Ramones, particularly of Dee Dee Ramone. C.J. — who answers to his non-Ramones name Christopher Ward — was also asked to try out for Metallica but he could not join as his son had just been diagnosed with autism. Johnny Ramone who was friends with Kirk Hammet, actually made the introduction.

Tomorrow at Chameleons, C.J. will be performing some of the Ramones’ best-known songs and material from his new release “Reconquista”. with STEVE SOTO and DAN ROOT from the ADOLESCENTS.

Also appearing will be upstate NY punx HIJINX, local working class heroes THE DAMAGED, Troy NY hooligans DEAD ACES and finally THE PONCHERELLOS! This is The Poncherellos’ first show in almost a year AND this will be the second sharing the stage with C.J.!

Andy Poncherello first saw the Ramones at Williams ollege, and has followed the band ever since. “The Ramones paved the way for bands of all genres including punk as well as metal, hardcore, ska, psychobilly, etc., and continue to do so almost 15 years since they finally hung up their leather jackets for good. Sadly, with three of the founding members passing away within a few years of each other, there will never be a proper reunion of one of the most important bands in rock ‘n’ roll history.” read more
