With less than 10 days before the start of Rock On Workshop 2012, the 10th season of the Berkshires 2 week Summer rock music program for teens and young adults, Rock On announced the winner of the first Rock On Sweetwater Music Scholarship.
Christine was born in Pittsfield MA on February 2, 1997 and is the daughter …of songwriter Apollo Nzima. Surrounded by music as a child, Christine started to sing and play the piano at an early age. In 2010, she won the Pittsfield Talent show and in 2012 was a Berkshire Idol winner in the 12-16 year old category.
Christine writes lyrics, composes, and arranges her own songs. She makes music that can relate to teenagers and adults. She tries to find the raw emotion in her instruments and blend them to create something special. She is also inspired by real situations. Christine has performed throughout Berkshire County including at 3rd Thursdays on the Rock On and Berkshire Rocks stages, at the MarketPlace, Juice N Java, Gypsy Joynt and other venues. Christine is also a founding member of ROO! – the rock on orchestra – that will perform July 19th at the 3rd Thursday celebration in downtown Pittsfield. Some of her hobbies include acting, dancing and helping people. Christine currently attends Pittsfield High school and will be a sophomore in the fall. Some of her influences include Tina Turner, Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston.
At Rock On, Christine will study songwriting with Robin O’Herin and Bernice Lewis and participate in a day-long seminar with Pat Pattison, the world renowned professor of songwriting at Berklee College of Music.
