Music over the Holiday Weekend

Lots of stuff going on in town this weekend. Just want to highlight a couple of really fun all ages events to add to your agenda…

The DollyRots

Dollyrots do Western MA

First – Don’t miss this excellent all ages show on Thursday June 2 beginning at 8pm! Elf Parlor is about as big as The Room at Rebel Sound Records was, so you don’t want to miss this stellar event! The Dance Cancer are heading out on tour back to the west coast (and hopefully back here in one piece!) and they’re joined by The Dollyrots who just finished a tour with Bowling For Soup and will be back on the road with the Go-Go’s!!! It’s a FREE SHOW but the bands will be passing a hat (in this case, an Elf Head) and really, it’s worth at least $10!! As always, it’s all ages, but they serve killer food, coffee, tea, beer and wine so come hungry and thirsty!!

This is going to be a blast, if you’ve never been to Elf Parlor, you’re missing out!

The Dollyrots , Opening Act.

30 years after the release of Beauty and the Beat, their double-platinum debut album that cemented in our hearts and our pop-vernacular such smash hits as “Our Lips Are Sealed” and “We Got the Beat”, the Go-Go’s and their fans prepare for a slew of 30th Anniversary activities for the 2011 summer and beyond. Kicking off the festivities will be Ladies Gone Wild, a national U.S. tour with the legendary Go-Go’s Belinda Carlisle, Charlotte Caffey, Gina Schock, Jane Wiedlin and Kathy Valentine. This summer will see the release of a Deluxe Edition of Beauty and the Beat, available May 17 from EMI, including a limited edition on hot pink vinyl. The Deluxe Edition includes a special bonus audio CD that features previously unreleased music from a 1981 live show. In August, the Go-Go’s will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
