Music This Weekend-April 9

Roger McGuinn of the ByrdsRoger McGuinn, of the Byrds, will be performing this Saturday, April 9, at 8 at The Clark in Williamstown, Mass.  Members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the original five-piece line-up of The Byrds consisted of Jim McGuinn (lead guitar, vocals), Gene Clark (tambourine, vocals), David Crosby (rhythm guitar, vocals), Chris Hillman (bass guitar, vocals), and Michael Clarke (drums). Famous for the folk hit, Turn Turn Turn, the Byrds released their final album in March 1973.

Post-Byrds, Roger McGuinn formed “McGuinn, Clark and Hillman” with fellow ex-Byrds Gene Clark and Chris Hillman. They recorded an album with Capitol Records in 1979 and the single, “Don’t You Write Her Off” reached #33 in April 1979.

You can hear selections from Roger’s work on his Folk Den site which spawned the CD Treasures from the Folk Den. A great all ages show if you can make it. McGuinn is featured in the current issue of Berkshire Living magazine.

Yup there’s more … The Dreamaway Lodge in Becket has a cool line-up this weekend including Golden Ghost, a UK and NY based eclectic group. Give it a listen on Myspace.  For something a little more soulful, check out Ben Carroll, performing tonight.  The Dreamaway is now accepting credit cards too!!!

Black WaterRockOn’s own Jerry Giguere, drummer extraordinaire, is performing tonight with his band ‘BlackWater’ at Chameleon’s Nightclub, newly opened in Pittsfield. This is not an all ages show but it is sure to rock. Opening act, Sticky Nickels, will start at 7:00.

Dan Broad and the Cover Up will be playing tonight at the Milltown Tavern. A great cozy venue in Dalton with awesome pizza and a multitude of beers on tap….

Is there more? Of course. But that’s all for now folks!
