Here’s what some of the RockOn Faculty are up to this weekend…

A great music event for the whole family, the Pittsfield Drum and Percussion Expo on Saturday April 2nd 7:30pm at Berkshire Community College’s Boland Theater. Featuring professional drummers, percussionists and drum ensembles from the Berkshires who will showcase their talents in 5 to 10 minute performances, including Rockon Faculty Chris Mattoon-Drum set; Kali Baba-Drum set; and more featured professional rhythm artists: Chris Hairston-Jazz Drum Set & Quince Drum Corp with special guests The Red Knights Drum Corp; Aimee Gelinas co-founder of Gaia Roots world music-Cuban, Haitan & W. African Drumming; Youth Alive Step, Dance and Drumline featuring drummer Jerome Edgerton; KDZ Drummers of Kripalu-Indian Kirtan & W. African Drumming; Stefanie Weber-Percussive Tap & Middle Eastern Dumbek; The Berkshire Bateria-Brazilian Samba; Satya & Chapungu-Zimbabwe Mbira; BITS-Beat boxing; Bill Chapman-Drum set; Josh & Tony Pisano-Irish Bodhran; John DeKadt-Hang drum and Frame drum; Marafanyi-West African Drum, Balafon  & Djun Djun dance; Tom Houghtaling & Daniel Cohen of SIFER-Rock and Metal Drum Set & Percussive guitar; Joanne DelCarpine, Marie Georgefils, Kim Waterman-Cuban, Haitan & W. African Drum & dance; Fidel Moreno co-founder of Healing winds and White Eagle Sanctuary-Pow wow & water drum.

The Boland Theater is located on the Berkshire Community College Campus in the Koussevitzky Arts Center (visit www.berkshirecc.edu for directions). The show is appropriate for all ages.  The $3 – $8 suggested donation at door will fund free drum clinics for Pittsfield youth at Jae’s spice in the ballroom (drum clinic date TBA-visit www.tamarackhollow.com for more info).  Event sponsors include: the Pittsfield Cultural Council, Vic Firth Percussion, Wood Brothers Music, Gaia Roots World Music, Sun Ray Video Productions, Bekki Snaps Photography, Berkshire Community College, Shiro and Jae’s Spice. Blossom for Japan
Music lovers of the Berkshires support relief efforts in Japan on Sunday, April 3rd. Join us and Blossom for Japan at Shakespeare and Co.’s Founders Theatre. Featuring the Rev Tor Band, Bella’s Bartok and more. A great event starting at 1:00pm, for a great cause.

TONIGHT, join Andy Kelly, Charlie Tokarz, Ben Kohn, James and Dianne Lumsden, and Jon Haddad, The Sister City Jazz Ambassadors @ the Baba Louie’s. Sponsored by The Pittsfield Sister City Committee. Starting at 6:30 until 9:30 with a Turkish instrumentalist as a special guest! Free. Friday, April 1,  Baba Louie’s,  34 Depot Street, Pittsfield.

You can also catch The Pittsfield Sister City Jazz Ambassadors when they Earth Day at Patrick’s Pub April 7th. Andy Kelly says..”We are big believers is loving the Earth, and caring for her! Come on out and help us to show it!”
