Rock On Faculty – Jeff Link

DSCN1516

Jeff Link is the Rock On Workshop‘s curriculum coordinator. He’s been playing music since the age of eight, and performed for an audience for the first time in the third grade. He grew up in Florida and eventually enrolled in the University of South Florida where he studied music.

Jeff then moved to Boston to attend the Berklee College of Music. He graduated from Berklee and immediately started teaching there the following Fall. This continued for nine years until Jeff moved to British Columbia to start his very own contemporary music school which, 20 years later, is still going strong. In 1990 Jeff moved to New York City where he performed on Broadway.

Jeff moved to Pittsfield last year and now teaches private lessons in his home studio, including instruction in bass, song writing and contemporary music theory. He currently plays with his band Lurid Details, a latin/funk band who performs locally. Mr. Link says he’s been influenced by a wide array of artists, including The Beatles, Jack Bruce of Cream, Jaco Pastorius of Weather Report and Christian McBride just to name a few.

Jeff and Lurid Details have got their first show coming up at the Inn at Richmond July 23 at 7PM.
